BENTONVILLE - The Arkansas State Soccer Association has named Northwest Arkansas Lightning Soccer Club coach Jakob Nilsson its 2009 Coach of the Year for the Classic Soccer Division (competitive travel teams).
Nilsson coaches several different age groups for the Lightning and his teams have won five state cups and advanced to two regional tournaments.
"Coach Jakob has done so much for youth sports and for soccer in Arkansas," said Lightning director of coaching Tadeu Dias.
Nilsson will be accepting the award Saturday at the ASSA’s 2009 Annual General Meeting at Hendrix College in Conway.
